Western Districts Riding Club
The
Western Districts (Horse) Riding Club is based at Adelaide Shores at West Beach. It was founded in the 1950s and is the oldest riding club in South Australia.
WDRC caters for riders of all ages and abilities and has in-house Accredited Instructors to assist members to increase their riding and horsemanship knowledge and skills. Families will enjoy the friendly social atmosphere of the club.
WDRC members regularly compete at various state and national competitions including Royal Shows. Some members compete in one discipline (eg Dressage or Hacking) while others contest the One Day Event, which is a combination of dressage, cross country and showjumping.
The Western Districts Riding Club is proud that Gillian Rolton, dual Olympic gold medalist, began her riding with the Club.
WDRC's season generally begins on the first Sunday of February each year, and rally days are usually held every Sunday except when other events, including HRCA (Horse Riding Clubs Association of South Australia) events, are scheduled.
Western Districts Riding Club has won the Parade of Clubs for the past 5 consecutive years, a feat that no other club has achieved.
