Coast Park

Coast Park is a State Government initiative, in partnership with local government, to develop a 70km linear park along the metropolitan Adelaide coastline from North Haven to Sellicks Beach.

The Park provides a two-way pathway for walkers and cyclists along the coastal foreshore.

The section of the Park connecting Henley Beach and Glenelg passes along Adelaide Shores’ frontage onto West Beach, and this section is managed by Adelaide Shores.

The Park is a great way to be active and enjoy the coastline and also protects the delicate sand dune ecosystem from damage.

In 2007 on World Environment Day (5 June), the City of West Torrens presented Adelaide Shores with a Business Environment Award for its work over the past 5 years in restoring West Beach's coastal habitat by reversing the invasion of exotic weeds such as the African Boxthorn and revegetating with indigenous plants.

On Friday 25 July 2008, the Minister for Urban Development and Planning, The Hon Paul Holloway MLC, officially opened a new Coast Park Activity Node at Hamra Avenue within the Adelaide Shores precinct. This node provides a rest area, public art, interpretive signage, a beach viewing point and improved car parking on Hamra Avenue to benefit users of the Coast Park.
